| March 11, 2008: Texas A&M Among Universities Featured in Hispanic Magazine |
Texas A&M is again among the universities featured in Hispanic magazine’s annual listings of “The Best Colleges for Latinos.”
"Once again this year we have looked at colleges and universities with strong national reputations in order to find the best colleges for Hispanic students,” notes Fernández Cendón, in the introduction for the overviews about the cited institutions. “Our aim was to find the schools that, in addition to sustaining a tradition of excellence, offer support and resources for groups underrepresented in higher education, Hispanics in particular.”
She said factors included in the selection process were Hispanic student enrollment, graduation rates, financial aid resources, student-to-faculty ratios, acceptance rates and number of Hispanic faculty. Also, she said U.S. News & World Report, Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education and the College Board were used as resources.
Other featured institutions include Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Columbia, University of Chicago, Notre Dame, Georgetown and all five of the University of California campuses, along with Rice and The University of Texas at Austin.
