A Dialogo, dialogue in Spanish, is an event that aims at advancing the Latino agenda in planning. This is one of the outcomes of a national initiative of the recently created Latinos and Planning Division of the American Planning Association. Several dialogos have been organized in the country by local communities, and this is the first initiative to be done in Texas. While the issues to discuss will be local as they relate to the Texas Latino community and Latino planners, it aims at informing the national agenda for Planning and Latinos. The objective of the Texas Dialogo is to develop an agenda that focuses on two issues: 1. What are the biggest planning challenges facing Latino communities in Texas? 2. What are the biggest challenges facing Latino planners in Texas? In order to assure a broad participation, a steering committee was formed with representatives from the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning (LAUP), the College of Architecture, the Center for Housing and Urban Development, and the City of College Station, the City of Bryan, and the Brazos Valley Council of Governments. This effort is led by Dr. Cecilia Giusti, at the LAUP department with the assistance of Miriam Olivares, Ph.D. candidate at the Urban and Regional Science program. If you have any question, comment or suggestion regarding the Latino Dialogo in Texas, please do not hesitate to contact Cecilia Giusti at 458-4304 or at cgiusti@archmail.tamu.edu For registration, travel arrangements, or dietary needs, please contact Dolores Gonzales at 979 458-0102 or at dgonzales@archone.tamu.edu We look forward to your participation in this event. With your help we can define the state and national agenda for Latinos and Planning. Come and make your voice heard!!!!
